“I am convinced that LIFE is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our ATTITUDES.” This quote by Charles Swindoll explains exactly why I went abroad for 6 months and to California for 5 months.
Since I was laid off over 2 years ago (May 15, 2009), I have had quite a few adventures. I went to the UK for 4 months, spent 3 weeks in Croatia when I had intended it to only be 1, and spent 6 weeks in Nepal. I went to Hawaii for Christmas, then spent 4 months treading water in Seattle before I found my way to San Francisco via a friend’s generous offer.
I have returned to Seattle and I just got a job working at a grade school as a Kindergarten teaching assistant. I am interested in teaching, urban farming, cooking and food security. Hopefully this job will give me experience and help me on my path to be involved in all of these things.
Let the adventure continue…

hey becky!! so glad to hear that being laid off was good for you–i love hearing of the good things that come out of the “bad” when you are open to life’s possibilities!
just let me know if you are interested in coming on down to GA and working with us for a bit. I’d be happy to ask my farm boss if we could use ya!
Thanks Gretchen! This whole thing is definitely a case of serendipity. A few months ago I may not have thought that anything positive could come out of being laid off or any of the other disappointments I experienced last year, but I’m happy now and looking forward to what life has to offer.
B- if you get a chance, go to Martha’s Vineyard … amazing farming and visual nirvana! If you want, I can ask my friends about opportunities there
That would be awesome. I want to move but can’t afford it yet. WWOOFing my way around the NE may be the way to go….
Becky! Look at where your travels have taken you – so awesome! It sounds like you are doing great, have seen lots of places and many adventures along the way. I had no doubt you were going to land on your feet. How fun that you are blogging!!
How did you come across mine? Thanks so much for saying hello – it is great to hear from you and see that you are doing so well! Keep me updated (or I guess I can always pop into your blog now!)
Heather
Thanks for coming by and commenting, Heather! I found your blog when I was doing some checking up on BLG. I was curious as to who still worked there, etc. Anyway, I will definitely keep you updated and continue to visit your blog.
